Help me short hop. Please.

God, I can't short hop for my life!

I cant do it. You're probably like : "Just tap Y or X, Zeph... why is this hard for you??"

Well I don't freaking know. You have to tap it lightly, and maybe my wavebird has tap jump deficiency or something but I just cant. Lucas needs to shorthop on command and nair people's faces so this is very important for me.

I tried practicing it today and I just failed. Miserably. I played Doc and found myself getting hit more than usual.

Obviously I spam dair because I can't nair. I use it now, true, but nair's true potential is for short hopping into people... and I can't do that!!

You guys must have some kind of trick or way you mastered it so please guys, help me with this. PLEASE.

Sorry to say, but it can only come by practicing it. It's just one of those basics you have to master by yourself.

umm id say practice standing still for a while before you start doin it movin

It's easy to do that. Whats hard is to do it in an intense situation.

Hmmm.....

Against a CPU any lv.
Just run at them and just
press lightly the Y or X button under a second perhaps.
I do it everytime.

I cant fullhop.

Press the Y as fast as possible, then press A...
And if you need to do it to left or right, then run, press Y as fast as possible, and then press A while "running".

You see I just tend to mash buttons down, hard when playing.

You guys make it seem like I actually can't do it ever.

I can, and it's not hard, but in an intense match I find it excruciatingly difficult.
Even normally it's kind of hard.

But it's not like I don't know you just "tap Y or X" =_____=
