Gym layout.
Hey, I have a bit of a problem with the current layout of the gyms, and that is this, there are four different gyms, Power, Speed, Flying, Energy, and if we look at their respective memberships, they look like this...
Flying = 7
Power = 6
Energy = 4
Speed = 3
In other words, some gyms are much more active than others. Speed seems to be just... un-used right now. My suggestion is the Removal of a gym, re-arranging characters into gyms that more fit the characters description. (What is energy gym even supposed to mean? Should have called it "Characters I'm not sure where they fit gym.", lol)
I'd much rather a Heavyweight, middleweight and lightweight devisions. That way we could have more people per gym, and, a more enjoyable experience because each gym contains more characters.
My Suggestion : (I'm aware this needs tweaks bad!)
Okay, so obviously lightweight has too many characters, please help me trim it XD
You'll also notice that I separated all the multi-characters like PkmN Trainer, Samus and Shiek/Zelda, I thought if the point of the Gyms was to decide who was best with a given type of character, well, you shouldn't be allowed to switch characters mid-match, especially when they play different!.
But yea, feedback or opinions on this suggestion would be welcome.
Afterthoughts -
Could Zelda be considered a heavy? I mean, she moves slow and her attacks can be fairly slow sometimes, but pack a big punch. I was thinking along the same lines with lucas, but, thats a ridiculous thought having him in the same gym as the big boys, still, tho...
Metaknight could be moved up, because he is metaknight.
Snake could possibly be considered heavyweight. Nothing packs a punch like an explosive to the face.

Thanks
I figured Fox should be mid, however, I wanted to divide up characters who had similar move sets. Fox and Falco shouldn't be in the same gym, IMHO (actually I'm sounding like a hypocrite because of what I said in my previous post about Pkmn Trainer XD).
I guess what I really want is more diversified gyms that can be enjoyable for a longer period of time, dividing up characters with similar move sets can do that, I'm hoping, anyway.
Once again, thank you for that, I wasn't actually aware G&W was the lightest tho.... makes sense.. he's completely flat

Re: Gym layout.
Sheik shouldnt be mid, he dies much faster than Zelda, Zelda is middle. Sheik has died for me at 90%, and even 80 at times. He's a light.
I say Sheik is a he because Zelda is pretending to be a guy, so I roll with it.

Re: Gym layout.
Uh-oh -.- *smells hard work* lol jk.
Anyways onto the matter, First off this idea isn't bad. I like it and it gives us a pretty nice chances to extended our abilities.
Pkmn Trainer should not be split up due to the fact that his pokemon get tired and it decreases damage. That would bring trouble since players would have to stop and change. I would make Pkmn Trainer heavyweight since 2/3 of his pokemon are Heavyweight hitters (Charizard and Ivysaur) Squirtle is also pretty slow but I don't know.
I have no clue why Samus is a power type :s. She is floaty, not heavy at all and has a slow fall. Plus her attacks have low killing rates. I would make her Middle or Light.
Link is incredibly heavy lol.
G&W is the lightest in the game.
Pit, Ness and Fox should be middle. Maybe Wolf? I don't know about him.
Zeph is right about Sheik.
Zelda could possibly be Power. Again, I'm not sure.
To answer your question about the Energy Gym, energy is basically characters with Unique Abilities (Olimar's Pikmin, Pk Kids' Pk powers, Zelda's unique B moves etc etc).

Re: Gym layout.
If both Ness and Lucas have Pk thunder, it's not unique, now is it ;P? (/smartass)
lol, but thanks for clearing that up, it SORT of makes sense.
Samus I always thought of as heavy, but I'm no expert on her You wouldn't think she'd be floaty tho wearing that metal power suit. XD
But yea, if this was refined a bit to something everyone could agree on, I think I'd much rather have 3 gyms with 7 members (or an average of seven ) than 2 basically inactive gyms and 2 active ones (each of which only has like 1 character I like in them.)

Re: Gym layout.
actually jiggs is the lightest character.
but raimu, the original gym system actually has 6 gyms. balanced, energy, speed, flying, power, and weapons. but ours just has 4 so we had to separate the people in balanced and weapons to other gyms. so some people might seem out of place, but that's the best spot for them. also we chose 4 gyms to have gyms be more active and not have a whole bunch of characters in them. and the gym system isn't going to be perfect, there's going to be times when it's inactive and very active. and the biggest decider in activeness is the amount of members this forums has.
and about the energy gym thing. it's for people who use energy like attacks. kind of vague but that's basically it.

Re: Gym layout.
I understand your thinking about the four gyms, Zach. However, The number of gyms should be somewhat proportional to the active userbase for this forum... which is fairly low, thus, there should be a lower number of gyms. IMHO.
4 gyms is nice and all, but not if theres always inactive ones.

Lol. I remember that. So... think we're gonna do this thingy, Rei?
I want to, anyway.
But instead of Lightweight Gym Leader, or something like that, let's call them champions!
Well.. idk.

Why is Link Middleweight? Anyways, this seems like cool idea. Later on, when we have enough members it should be changed to 4 gyms though.

Re: Gym layout.
Honestly, I don't think I'm really qualified to put a finalized list together, but lets try.
I've rearranged it so its 11, 12, 14, much more balanced. Unfortunately we have the whole "characters with similar movesets" grouped again, but, I s'pose that is the point really
- Spoiler:
Heavyweight - 11
Bowser
Donkey Kong
Wario
Gannondorf
Link
King Dedede
Wolf
Pokemon Trainer
Ike
Snake
R.O.B.
Middleweight - 12
Mario
Luigi
Yoshi
Samus
Zelda
Falco
Lucario
Marth
Lucas
Pit
Ness
Fox
Lightweight -14 (????)
Peach
Diddy Kong
Sheik
Toon Link
Zero-Suit Samus
Ice Climbers
Kirby
Meta Knight
Olimar
Captain Falcon
Pikachu
Jigglypuff
Sonic

Rob is heavy? Since when? He's so floaty and quick, and honestly not all that hard to knock out as long as you hit him hard enough so he doesn't have a chance to fly back.

Re: Gym layout.
He's heavy because it takes forever to kill him, not just because of his recovery.
And I dont know about hitting him far enough so he cant fly back. That margin is very small. If he can fly back, he's coming back.
Besides. You play Bowser. Of course it isnt the hardest thing to knock him far.
