Re: Are Tiers for Queers?
Its not vice versa... unless you were talking about your opinion. Meta Knight is the highest top tier. Snake is second highest top tier.
@ Zero
Vice versa means switching something the other way around.

Re: Are Tiers for Queers?
Toon Link is unfortunatly there on the low part in the real tier. The only way I'd lie is to put him in the high tier because he should be there. As for the edit, I wasnt trying to hide. I did fix it.. idk why Ness and Wolf weren't there but oh well.

GuruKid wrote:Here are my views on Tiers:
The player who goes for the upper-tier characters solely because of their "superior status" will not be as good as someone who chooses a character based on compatibility, aesthetic quality (a fan of their games), or playstyle. Every player has a different playstyle, and so using a character that matches your preferences only increases the overall chemistry.
I have no qualms about maining someone who's "high tier" because I know I did not choose based on his tier status; I loved G&W's quirky playstyle since Melee, and I think he's just a really cool character overall. There are no doubt other players that use G&W just because he's "high tier", and I guarantee that the majority of those G&W players won't ever win a serious set (let alone a tournament) simply because he does not match their playstyles. In turn, their overall Brawl experience will suffer.
I pity the fools!
Super late response here but I need to point out that the assumption that a tier whore won't put enough effort into their chosen high tier character is relatively inaccurate. True many scrubs that decide they want to tier whore for the reason of not having to put effort into the character won't amount to much well but anyone that does for the reason of wanting to win tourneys will probably put just as much effort into the character as a true fan.

I never questioned their effort; I was stating that no matter how much tier whores may try to improve with a certain character, those players may not reach that top level (or even a mediocre level) simply because that character's playstyle clashes with that of the player. To reach the hypothetical absolute mastery of any character, your mind, reflexes, muscle memory... EVERYTHING has to be perfectly in-sync with the character.
Training alone can only go so far. The rest relies on pure, natural capibility and compatibility.

Re: Are Tiers for Queers?
okay you have a point there but most of the tier whores that do bother to put effort in pick the high tier character they are most compatible with

I agree. If a character just doesn't fit you stop wasting your time and move on. I'm learning that the hard way, unfortunately.

Re: Are Tiers for Queers?
As for my playstyle, there are a few things a char must have for me to main them:
Im slowly realizing what kind of things I need for a character.
1.) Quick down smash that gets them far away from you
2.) A good projecile
3.) A sweetspot would be nice
4.) Good Recovory bc I suicide alot
Now Zelda, TL, and Lucas all fit this... or at least 3 of the 4.
Now.. wonder if theres a char I havent tried that fits them all..? Idk... but TL or Zelda still seem my best bet.

Re: Are Tiers for Queers?
I think tiers are pretty stupid. They were mostly true in melee, but in brawl I think you can get really good with anyone. Or at least close. There are a couple of lesser characters, probably, but I couldn't name them.

Re: Are Tiers for Queers?
True, Brawl is very even. The Tier line is very thin ,but I still think it's there. Snake and Meta are very broken. In Melee, Sheik, Fox, and Falco were unstoppable. lol
