Well, I know Rei and other people dont always approve of these things, but I think this is important enough, lol.
Well, your president is....
Barack Obama!
I don't like it one bit, but I'm feeling optimistic nothing bad will happen. Well.. too bad anyways.
Just thought you guys should know, in case you weren't watching the debates, or went to bed early.
ELECTORAL COLLEGE --- Barack Obama got like 285 and McCain got like 160 or something. Not a landslide popular vote wise, but obviously electoral wise.
Feel free to discuss, although there isnt much to talk about anymore. Don't diss either candidate, or else I will remove this topic. (Or get someone else to <.<)

First of all, all of us here are young people so that mean we are all stupid.... yeah I don't get it either
.Second of all, why is it bad he is Black? They didn't vote just because he was Black, they voted because the Nation is sick and tried of the Republicans messing this Nation up. They wanted 'Change' and we are not going to get that with the same party that messed everything up. Why would McCain stop something that his own party supports. Who would make bigger things happen? A man who supports what destroyed our economics or a man who is against what is going on in this Country and wants to make changes? I think the latter one would be best. That is why the Nation voted for Obama.
If they did vote because he was Black then they have a damn good reason to do so. Just because he is Black doesn't mean he can't be President of the United States? If not then why he Hell are we called the UNITED States? For years the Black have been mistreated and have been done wrong, but when we have a Black canidate run for President, stupid stereotypes appear saying things like 'If only he wasn't black'. That's just not right... That statement has deeply offended me. Obama has done nothing to be treated like this. He has been called so many names,but hasn't said a wrong thing to anyone. A person who is trying to help our family, schools, nation, and most importantly us is being treated so badly. Kind of makes you think...
EDIT: Fyro edited his original post so now mine looks pretty pointless... well all this still needs to be said. Fyro's original post was a quote from a statement zach said in the chatroom. Don't edit post and then make me look stupid =/.

Your points are valid, but let me say mine.
I talked to many adults just asking whom they're voting for, and 4/6 said Obama.
I said this every time, no lie: "Great! What parts of Obama's stand made you want to vote for him?"
two out of the six said simply because he was black. I said thats good and all, but don't you think we need a President more than just that? Those two both couldnt recall anything of Obamas plan they knew about, just that he had an economic plan, and ASSUMED IT WAS GOOD.
Now, thats fine and dandy, but didn't we assume George Bush wouldnt ruin our economy when we elected him again? I mean come on guys.
I will respect anyone's opinion if they have multiple, valid reasons for doing so, and know their party's stand on the major issues. If they do not know anything else than they are black, or want to leave Iraq, then I call them utter idiots.
Harsh? I dont think so. Dont vote for someone over THAT on this important of a job.
Of course this is a major moment for America! Black President! Woo!

Here's a quote from a guy on the news: "Now, and only now, when my son asks me if he can be whatever he wants when he grows up, I can say : 'Yes you can!' "
I think for me, that was inspirational.

All 4 of the Obama supporters said they didnt want McCain because he was so old. They thought he'd have a heart attack. Guys, if his mother is still alive, and he's a vietnam vet, I would NOT be concerned.
Oh, by the way, one of the two McCain supporters in my six had bad reasons too. I think he's an idiot. So dont call me a hypocrite, I dont care what party they're in, they need to know the facts.
I think others didnt vote for McCain for the same reasoning. Obama has the easy pick because he's young, and had a motto of change, (whether it really will be or not) this will help him.
If only he wasnt Black? Well, I find that a little harsh too, but I think if the guy had the same points and was white, the election would be closer. Heck, Obama might even win again, but I feel very strongly McCain wouldve been closer to win.
At any rate, it's over now. Obama has a lot of things to deal with. Economy, Iraq.., Social Issues... I hope he goes through with his promises. I'm still confident that he will.
I dont think all of his stances are correct, but at any rate, we have a historic election, and change in politics as we know it, I think.

I like President Obama because he promises change. Him being the first black Prez is a magnificant added bonus. This doesn't end the Slavery issue though, but it helps.
Yes, we do assume he will help the Nation improve. A lot of us assume McCain would just be Bush v2 lol.
I think bringing the Troops home now is a good reason though. They needed to be their when everything first started but now our presence their isn't needed. A lot of citizens of the US probably voted Obama so their family could come home and I wouldn't call them utter idiots for that. I would be scared if my Dad or Mom was in Iraq. I would want them home instead of being killed for no reason. That is something I can sympathize with.
Also, not only was the US effected by this Election but the whole world was effected by it too. All over the world people rejoiced as the news spread that President Obama is the New 44th President of the United States. President Obama promises to help our economic problems and in doing so not only helps the US but the world. Whether the other Nations choose to admit it or not, the US econmics has a big role in the World's economics and when the US 's economics suffer the world's economics suffers. This is another reason why Obama is so loved Internationally.
I think this is my last long essay for awhile... Its getting tiring -.-

I was kinda mad at the people who have the most basic grasp of the issues and just voting for Obama and thinking McCain is Bush, which in my opinion is NOT TRUE.
Well duh Obama is popular internationally. Not a suprise.
I feel sympathy for those who have family or friends in war. I would never call them idiots. I would call the idiots the people who dont even know where Iraq is, and who we're even fighting.
We do have a big role in others economics, but we screw ours, eh?
America is the 2nd highest taxer of Corporate Companies. That means GM, Chrystler (Or whatever... that other car company) and Circuit City.. and Mrs. Fields! All of them are going bankrupt. Obama wanted to raise that tax. That'd make us #1. I dont think we should do that is all, it'd just make them and many more companies go bankrupt. Okay? So I know my stuff.
Not that I really had to prove that though.
I respect you Rei. You generally know your stuff too. I'm still pissed at the larger majority of my generation who screw politics though. It's fine, but they really should care : /

Meh, I screw politics but for some reason it just keeps dragging me into it @_@.

what i meant by that was obama got quite a bit of votes just because he was black, and to me that's just a bad reason. and with the youth being dumb thing. a lot of people voted being misinformed about things. just thinking that the economy is bad just because of bush being president (and it's not really his fault). and it would just get fixed by voting for the other party. and this whole economic thing started with jimmy carter and got solidified by bill clinton anyways. so yeah kind of wanted to get that point across.
and sorry for that quote thing. i guess i was too blunt with it and you guys took it the wrong way i guess. and the quote was directed at zephron who understood what i meant by that so i didn't have to further explain myself in the chat.
